Moving Oos is back with a new studio record after almost 10 years of hibernation. Romancer is a collection of re-recordings of songs from the band’s first two celebrated albums. Formed by Per Borten (Spidergawd, Cadillac), Frank Reppen (Blood On Wheels) and Haakon Marius Pettersen (Turbonegro) in the 2000S, Moving Oos could be seen as a supergroup in the Norwegian rock world. While taking their name from one of Neil Young’s descriptions of a specific type of backing vocals, the group has little in common with Young’s folkish rock, veering instead towards the Motown sounds of the ‘60s (think Rare Earth). The group recorded three albums of soulful rock between 2007-2010, only to fall dormant for the last 9 years. Their return to the scene is heralded by the new full-length Romancer. Funky bass lines and electric clavichord, auxiliary percussion, female backing vocals and Pettersen’s fervent singing truly conjure the sounds of a bygone era whose revival has not yet bloomed. Had enough of ‘70s throwback? Try Moving Oos! Romancer is available on 180GR colored vinyl including CD from Crispin Glover Records.
