A lot has changed for London based Stoner crew Yung Druid since the release of their Debut, Self Titled LP in 2019. So much so, it's hard to really call the 4 piece a 'London based band' these days. A Pandemic amongst other things has seen the members of Yung Druid scattered out from Europe to Australaisa, forcing the band to make drastic changes to their typical approach to writing and recording - Long gone are the days of writing and recording as a band in small rehearsal rooms in their spiritual home of Hommerton, East London. The latest EP was pieced together from Mallorca Spain, Western Australia and New Zealand. Their upcoming EP 'Wooden Lungs' is a 20 minute, 2 track 'Ying-Yang' affair, consisting of the retro-psych-rocker, 'Space Cowboy' and the Doomy Blues jam 'Wooden Lung'. Artwork for the release was once again handled by the enigmatic Donnie Ka. Conceptually, there are clear linkages to the retro psychedelic artwork on the debut, but the level of detail on the new EP is considerably more advanced. This evolution mirrors the development in sound on the EP too, with a range of vocal harmonies, addition of synths and keys being brought into the mix alongside some natural development and refinement of the band’s sound. Despite the EP being a 2 track release, the sizable run time and range of ground covered in the two epic tracks should both quench the thirst of fans that have been longing for new material, and whet the appetites for future full length releases. The release was engineered, mixed and mastered by John Prosser at Vision Studios, Western Australia.
