Songs from the 13th floor is the 2nd album by the belgian band Alain Pire Experience. Still drenched with 60's overtones, the album ranges from instant pop tunes like "The Sun don't Shine" or "Lazin' in the Afternoon" to experimental tracks that could have been performed by the Grateful Dead back in 1967 like the lengthy "Turn On, Tune in, Drop Out", featuring narration by the late Timothy Leary. It was recorded at Alain's studio between july 2015 and november 2016 using vintage equipment such as old tube amps, Hammond organ, Mellotron, vintage guitars and drums... - the fine backing vocals were done by Master Jacky Coppens and the delicate strings arrangements have been crafted by Didier Dessers. The rhythm section is one of belgian's finest with Marcus Weymaere on drums and Renι Stock on bass. Alain is not only a musician, he has also been granted a PhD in Cultural Anthropology for his research on 60's counterculture and music.
